MOSA emergency power systems take over the supply of electrical power automatically in the event of mains failure or insufficiency. A complete system consists of the generating set, a control module and transfer contactor switches. The MOSA EAS series of control units (EAS 5 110) combine the control module and the transfer contactor switches in a single housing, which can be mounted in any convenient location. They are not part of the generating set. They can be used with any MOSA generator with a model name ending in "EAS" from 4 kVA up. The EAS control unit is programmable and can be set up to meet almost any requirement. It monitors the mains voltage and when it falls below a preset value it automatically starts the generator engine, monitors it and, when everything is OK, switches the load from the mains to the generator. When the mains comes back on it switches the load from the generator back to the mains, lets the engine cool down and shuts it down, ready for the next . It also can be remotely started either by a contact closure or with the EJP system, which is mainly used in France). The control circuitry of the MOSA EAS - Automatic Mains Failure Control Panels is based on an Intel 80c552 Microprocessor working at 11 MHz. The program is stored in a 32 Kbyte EPROM while the data is stored in a 32 Kbyte RAM. A 256 Word EEPROM serves as a non-volatile memory. The EAS units are equipped with an Ammeter (not EAS5-5), three figure display, 15 LED's to indicate the functions, alarms and status, and 7 membrane-push buttons with a positive mechanical feel. All functions and values can be set from the front panel. A code is required to change certain settings to avoid changes made by unauthorized persons. A battery charger using intelligent modulation of current and voltage is included. |
